supporting documents

Mutnedjmet is depicted on some tombs from the Amarna period and probably held the position of guardian of the daughters of Akhenaten and Nefertiti. She bears the title sister of Queen Nefertiti . The pictures show her as a young girl with the typical side curl of children. She is portrayed larger than the royal children.

Research theses

Numerous researchers consider her to be a younger sister of Nefertiti without any confirmatory evidence yet. Since she no longer appears in the representations of the later years of government, it is often assumed that she rejected the politics and especially the religion of Akhenaten and was therefore sent back to Thebes . However, this assumption is highly speculative and is based on the assumption of many older researchers that she is actually Nefertiti's sister and, at the same time, identical to the haremhab's second wife . This equation of the sister of Nefertiti with the wife of the haremhab is rejected by many new researchers. They point out that the name of the Nefertiti sister may not read Mutnedjmet , but Mutbelet .
