Myrath ( Arabic ميراث 'Erbe, Vermächtnis') is a progressive metal band with oriental influences from Tunisia , which was founded in 2001. From 2001 to 2005 the group was known as X-Tazy .

history

Guitarist Malek Ben Arbia, then 13 years old, formed X-Tazy in 2001 with two friends he had known all his childhood: Fahmi Chakrounn (drums) and Oualid Issaoui (guitar), who were both 14 years old. Then they took bassist Zaher Ben Hamoudia and singer Tarek Idouani into the band. During the first two years the band played covers of other blues , heavy metal and death metal bands .

In 2003, the trained keyboardist Elyes Bouchoucha joined the band, who not only took over the position on keyboard, but also succeeded Tarek Idouani as singer. In this new occupation Myrath played several concerts with other cover versions, mainly from the common favorite band Symphony X .

At this time the band also started writing their own songs in progressive metal style with oriental influences. After further line-up changes, the band released the demo album Double Face in March 2005 , which was produced by the band itself.

In December 2006 the band released Hope with Kevin Codfert as producer, the keyboardist of the band Adagio , whom the band had met at a rock festival. In June 2007 the singer Zaher Zorgati joined the band.

The Desert Call album received good reviews. Among them were 8.5 out of 10 points in Rock Hard No. 277 and 6 out of 7 points in the Metal Hammer issue 06/10.

The band performed at the ProgPower Europe Festival in October 2010 , which the audience rated as one of the best at the festival. In November and December 2011 they toured Europe with Orphaned Land , Arkan and Artweg.

The title of the album Legacy , released in 2016, is an eponym of the band name. An elaborate video was shot for the song Believer , which was financed through crowdfunding .
