N'Guelbély (also: Nguel Bély , N'Guelbeyli , N'Guel Beyli ) is a rural community in the Maïné-Soroa department in Niger .

geography

N'Guelbély is located in the Manga landscape in the Sahel . The neighboring municipalities are Tesker in the north, N'Gourti in the northeast, Foulatari in the east, Maïné-Soroa in the south and Goudoumaria in the southwest. The municipality is divided into the administrative village of N'Guelbély, five warehouses and two water points. The main town of the rural municipality is the administrative village of N'Guelbély.

history

The rural municipality of N'Guelbély was established as an administrative unit in 2002 as part of a national administrative reform when the territory of the canton of Maïné-Soroa was divided into the municipalities of Foulatari, Maïné-Soroa and N'Guelbély.

The regional capital Diffa was attacked in February 2015 by the jihadist terrorist group Boko Haram from Nigeria . As early as May 2013, around 150,000 people from neighboring Nigeria had fled to Diffa because of the activities of Boko Haram. Now N'Guelbély was one of the places that took in refugees from Diffa.

population

At the 2001 census, N'Guelbély had 1,000 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, the population was 21,976.

Economy and Infrastructure

The parish is located at the transition from the agropastoral zone of the south to the zone of pure grazing in the north. There is a cattle market in the village of Goudéram. The market day is Friday.
