NGC 1993 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type e-S0 in the constellation Hare south of the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 133 million light years from the Milky Way and about 60,000 light years in diameter.

The object was discovered by William Herschel on February 6, 1785 .
