News from Lower Saxony's Prehistory (NNU) is a scientific archaeological yearbook for Lower Saxony . In the journal , archaeologists, palaeontologists, archaeologists and scientists from neighboring departments publish reports on excavations and finds from different periods. It serves the scientific discourse about find complexes and contains excavation and find reports, news and book reviews. The individual essays are often supplemented with photo boards in black and white, since 2013 in color.

The annual publication was founded in 1927 by the prehistorian Karl Hermann Jacob-Friesen . Since 1969 with volume 38 it has been the organ of the Archaeological Commission for Lower Saxony . The news from Lower Saxony's prehistory was originally published by Hildesheimer Verlag Lax, and from 1991 by Theiss Verlag . The yearbook has been produced since 1995 in cooperation with the Lower Saxony State Office for the Preservation of Monuments and appears with a booklet containing the Lower Saxony find chronicle with reports of finds and short reports on new excavation results. The publisher is the Lower Saxony state archaeologist Henning Haßmann on behalf of the two responsible institutions ; Hildegard Nelson (find chronicle) and Markus C. Blaich (news from Lower Saxony's prehistory) are the editors of the volumes .
