Nadia Turbide

Nadia Turbide (born June 12, 1945 in Montreal ) is a Canadian musicologist and teacher.

Turbide studied music history with Elizabeth O'Neill and piano with Gerald Wheeler at Marianopolis College , then piano with Charles Reiner and Lubka Kolessa , counterpoint with Kelsey Jones and musicology with Marvin Duchow at McGill University . She wrote her dissertation with Louise Hirbour at the University of Montreal . She has been teaching music history and theory at Vanier Cegep since 1974 .

Turbide wrote radio documentaries for the CBC about Wilfrid Pelletier, Marvin Duchow and Charles Reine. She researched the biographies of Éviola Gauthier and Charles AE Harris, the first director of the McGill Conservatory .

With Frederick A. Hall , Bruce Minorgan, and others, she wrote A Basic Bibliography of Musical Canadiana (Toronto 1970). She has also written articles for the Encyclopedia of Music in Canada and the New Grove Dictionary of American Music (London 1986).
