Nadja Räss

Nadja Räss (* 1979 in the canton of Schwyz , Switzerland ) is a Swiss singer who specializes in yodelling . She is considered a representative of new folk music .

Life

In her childhood, Nadja Räss got to know Appenzell yodelling through relatives. She has been performing as a singer since she was 12. She attended the Einsiedeln Abbey School . After graduating from high school , she studied singing at the Zurich University of the Arts and in 2005 did her master's degree in pedagogy. Since then she has been teaching yodelling and singing. From 2012 to 2018 she was director of the Toggenburg Sound World . Since 2018 she has been a lecturer for yodelling at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences . This is the first time that yodelling is being taught at a Swiss university.

Interpreter

In her musical performances, Nadja Räss brings new and traditional forms of Swiss yodelling to the stage. She appears as a soloist and together with musicians such as Markus Flückiger , Willi Valotti , Wolfgang Sieber , Heinz della Torre , but also with the formations Alderbuebe and Willis Wyberkapelle.

She also works on projects with singers from other cultures, including in a trio with Outi Pulkkinen and Mariana Sadovska . She also performs with the Camerata Switzerland Symphony Orchestra .
