Napoleone Nani
Napoleone Nani (born May 18, 1841 in Venice ; † January 29, 1899 there ) was an Italian genre painter and art teacher .
He was born as the son of Luigi Nani and Elisa Fortes and baptized in the parish of S. Geremia .
Nani studied from 1853 at the Accademia di belle arti di Venezia . While still a student, he received several awards.
In 1870 he settled at Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari . As the successor to the late Michelangelo Grigoletti, he was appointed associate professor for drawing the figure at the Accademia di belle arti di Venezia.
He made his foreign debut at the Vienna World Exhibition in 1873 . He participated in many art exhibitions: 1874 in Genoa , 1876 in Turin , 1877 in Naples , 1881 and 1891 in Florence , 1888 in Bologna , 1891 in Verona and at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889 . In 1898 he took part in the great exhibition of Italian art in Saint Petersburg .
In 1874 he moved to Verona to head the Accademia di belle arti Giambettino Cignaroli di Verona. He taught there for 25 years and had talented students like Angelo Dall'Oca Bianca and Alessandro Milesi .
He spent the end of his life in his hometown of Venice.
