Nathanael Liminski

Nathanael Liminski (born September 19, 1985 in Bonn ) is a German ministerial official and politician ( CDU ). Since June 30, 2017, he has been State Secretary and Head of the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia (CdS) in the Laschet cabinet .

Career

Life

Born in Bonn, he came from a Catholic family and has nine siblings. He grew up in the Sankt Augustinian district of Hangelar . His father is the journalist and publicist Jürgen Liminski . He graduated from high school in 2005 at the Collegium Josephinum in Bonn. From 2006 he studied history and political science in Bonn and Paris . He caused a stir when he co-founded the Generation Benedikt group as part of World Youth Day 2005 , which was renamed Initiative Pontifex in 2013 . In this role, he was a multiple guest in talk shows, including at Maischberger and Hart but fair . Liminski is married, has three children and lives in Düsseldorf - Benrath .

Professional background

After graduating from high school, Liminski worked for a few months as a research assistant for Christa Reichard in the German Bundestag. He also did an internship in the US Congress for several months . Liminski began his ministerial career as a speechwriter in the Hessian State Chancellery under Roland Koch ( CDU ). In 2011 he moved to the Federal Ministry of Defense to Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg ( CSU ), but only one month later he stumbled upon the affair surrounding his plagiarized doctoral thesis . Guttenberg's successor Thomas de Maizière (CDU) brought Liminski from the planning staff to his ministerial office. As de Maiziere after the federal election in 2013 to the Interior Ministry changed, Liminski also moved there.

Political party

Liminski is a member of the CDU and is part of the conservative wing of the Union. He was temporarily editor-in-chief of a magazine of the Junge Union with the title Decision and held several positions in the state board of NRW of the Schüler Union and the Junge Union.

From 2014 until his appointment as head of the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia in June 2017, Liminski was parliamentary group manager and office manager Armin Laschets during his tenure as chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament. Since August 31, 2017, as State Secretary in the state government, he has also been responsible for the media area, after this was transferred to the State Chancellery by the actually responsible ministry due to allegations of bias against the Minister Stephan Holthoff-Pförtner . In October 2017, the state government sent Liminski to the ZDF television council .

In September 2018, the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia announced that he was generating more than 11,000 euros per year in so-called provisional ancillary income.
