National Securities Identifying Number

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The National Securities Identifying Number (NSIN) is a nine-digit alphanumeric code that uniquely identifies a security within a specific country. It is an elementary part of the international securities identification number (ISIN), which uniquely identifies a security internationally.

Structure of the NSIN

The structure of the NSIN varies from country to country. In Germany, the NSIN is made up of three zeros followed by the previous securities identification number (WKN). In Austria, the NSINs currently start with four zeros, followed by the then country-specific, unique security number.
