National Socialist monthly magazine was the title of a National Socialist magazine that appeared in Munich from 1930 to 1944. It is not to be confused with the magazine of the same name, which appeared in Vienna from 1927 to 1928 and was subtitled “Magazine for national politics, economy and culture”.

history

The magazine was founded in 1930 by Alfred Rosenberg as the theoretical organ of the National Socialist German Workers' Party . It appeared in the party's central publishing house , Franz-Eher-Verlag , and from 1930 to 1933 had the subtitle "Scientific Journal of the NSDAP" . The editor was Adolf Hitler , the editor Alfred Rosenberg. From 1934 the subtitle was renamed “Central Political and Cultural Journal of the NSDAP” . From January 1934, Alfred Rosenberg was the sole editor and Matthes Ziegler was its main editor . Ziegler managed to increase the circulation from under 20,000 to over 100,000 in a short time. Important authors in the initial phase were, besides Rosenberg, Ernst Graf zu Reventlow , Walter Groß , Adolf Dresler , Gerhard Ludwig Binz and Thilo von Trotha . In addition to central political articles on "Weltanschauung and science" , which served ideological training, the magazine was a leading organ of the church struggle, racial doctrine and the development of the National Socialist worldview, to which u. a. also a racist doctrine belonged to the arts. For example, a special edition on “Ethnic Studies on a Racial Basis” appeared in the series “Nazi Science .
