European Natural Track Luge Championships 1974

The 4th  FIL Natural Track Luge European Championship took place from February 9-10 , 1974 in Niedernsill , Austria .

They were held on the Luziawald toboggan run at USK Niedernsill.

At the fourth European Natural Track Luge Championships, the gold medal in the men's singles went to Italy for the first time. After Austrians had won three times before, Erich Graber brought the European championship title to Italy for the first time this year . The places two to twelve were occupied by Austrians. The silver medal went to Erwin Eichelberger , who had already won bronze in 1971. He was only 5 hundredths of a second behind. Third went to Albert Eichelberger , who won his only European Championship medal.

For the fourth time, the European championship in the women's singles went to Austria and for the third time only Austrian women were on the podium. Klara Niedertscheider , who was European Champion in 1971, won the gold medal for the second time with a lead of 3.82 seconds. Silver went to the defending champion Elfriede Pirkmann . Third was Annemarie Ebner , who had achieved second place in 1971.

The Austrians Siegfried Wild and Othmar Hofer were European champions in the two-seater . You had already won the bronze medal in 1971. The silver medal went to the Italians Robert Jud and Erich Graber . For Robert Jud it was the first European Championship medal, Erich Graber had already won the silver medal with Hans Graber at the first European Championship in 1970 . Third place went to the Austrians Helmut Kleinhofer and Karl Flacher . For them it was their only European Championship medal.
