Nonnenbusch nature reserve

The Nonnenbusch nature reserve with a size of 3.6  hectares is located west of Bredelar in the urban area of Marsberg in the Hochsauerland district . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2001 with the Hoppecketal landscape plan .

Area description

The NSG is a secondary biotope in the former clay pit . The clay pit was used until 1982. There are different types of amphibians, reptiles and birds.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the secondary biotope there in the former clay pit. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
