The nature reserve Versetal south of the dam is a 3.9  hectare nature reserve (NSG) south of the Versetalsperre in the urban area of Lüdenscheid in the Märkisches Kreis in North Rhine-Westphalia . The area was designated as a NSG in 1994. It is located directly south of the Versetalsperre. The NSG is divided into two parts by the 694 road or the road is on the edge of the NSG. The Versetal nature reserve borders directly to the south in Meinerzhagen .

Area description

The nature reserve is a section of the Verse and its floodplain . Drier areas of the NSG are called extensive grassland. The grassland is used as a hay meadow with subsequent grazing. Heavily wetted floodplain areas lie fallow and are occupied by tall herbaceous vegetation. On the banks of the verses are trees, mostly alders and willows. Shortly before the confluence of the Verse in the dam, a middle-aged alluvial forest with several large, flat, heavily silted-up water areas grows. The predominant tree species in the alluvial forest is maple, ash and alder are added. The herb layer is formed by a dense high herbaceous corridor.
