Negrita is an Italian rock band formed in Tuscany in 1991 .

Band history

The band was formed in the early 90s in the province of Arezzo and emerged from the group Inudibili . The band name Negrita refers to the song Hey Negrita by the Rolling Stones ( Black and Blue 1976). The founding members were frontman Paolo "Pau" Bruni, the guitarists Enrico "Drigo" Salvi and Cesare "Mac" Petricich and the drummer Roberto Zamagni, who soon joined Franco Li Causi on bass. The band was discovered by producer Fabrizio Barbacci. In the early years, the musicians performed in clubs across Italy until they made their debut on the Black Out label in 1994 with the album Negrita . In 1995 Paradisi per illusi followed . For the recording of the next album, the band moved to the USA, where XXX was formed, which was released in 1997.

With the comedian trio Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo , the band first worked in 1997 on the soundtrack of the film Tre uomini e una gamba ; in the next film Così è la vita , the band was responsible for the entire soundtrack. Part of it was also the song Mama maé , which subsequently reached the top 10 of the single charts. In the beginning of 1999 Negrita released the next album Reset and could reach number three of the album charts, which meant her final breakthrough. The album Radio Zombie with the single Bambole was similarly successful in 2001 . In 2003 the band entered the Sanremo Festival with the song Tonight , but only reached 18th place (out of 20). The first compilation Ehi! Negrita . In the summer of the same year, drummer Zamagni left the band, in his place first Paolo Valli, then Cristiano Dalla Pellegrina.

The band presented their next studio album, L'uomo sogna di volare , in 2005; it also contained the song Rotolando verso sud , which took part in the Festivalbar competition and became a summer hit . In the 2008 album HELLdorado , Negrita processed experiences that she had gained on trips to South America . This resulted in the successful singles Che rumore fa la felicità? , Radio Conga and Gioia infinita . The band finally returned in 2011 with the single Brucerò per te and the album Dannato vivere . After an extensive tour, she released a live album in 2012 . After continuing to work live, bassist Li Causi announced his departure in the summer of 2013. Shortly thereafter, the second compilation Déjà vu was released , which became the band's first number one album.

The multi-instrumentalist Guglielmo Gagliano joined the band in 2013, and from 2014 Giacomo Rossetti also became a permanent bassist. The ninth studio album, simply called 9 , reached the top of the chart in 2015 . This was followed by another live album. After an anniversary edition of the 1997 album XXX 2017, Negrita released the tenth album Desert Yacht Club in 2018 . At their second Sanremo participation in 2019, the band landed with I ragazzi stanno bene in 20th place (out of 24).
