Nicola de Marco

Nicola de Marco (born August 28, 1990 in Pordenone ) is an Italian racing driver .

Career

De Marco began his motorsport career in karting in 2000 , which he practiced until 2005. In 2006 he moved into the single-seater racing and finished third overall in the Italian Formula Azzurra . The following year, de Marco started in the Italian Formula 3 championship and finished sixth in the overall standings. In 2008 de Marco switched to the Spanish Formula 3 Championship. With two wins, he finished fourth overall.

In 2009 , de Marco started in the revived Formula 2 . With a second place as the best result, he finished tenth overall at the end of the season. In 2010 , de Marco stayed in Formula 2 and won his first Formula 2 race in Brno . With another win, he finished eighth in the overall standings at the end of the season.

With the 2011 season he switched from formula to GT motorsport. There he started in the International GT Open with a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 and achieved 13th place in the GTS classification. In 2013 he started again in the International GT Open with a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 . At the same time, he drove in the Spanish GT championship, where he finished 16th at the end of the season.

In 2016 he started for the Lazarus team with a Lamborghini Huracán LP620-2 in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo racing series and achieved sixth place at the end of the year. He finished third in the 2016 Rome 6-hour race. The following year he competed in two races in the Sprint Cup of the Blancpain GT Series .

In 2018, he achieved his greatest racing success to date by winning the Abu Dhabi 12-hour race in a Lamborghini Huracán GT3.
