Nicolas de Neufville, seigneur de Villeroy
Nicolas de Neufville, seigneur de Villeroy , (* 1542 ; † November 12, 1617 in Rouen ) was a French diplomat and politician .
Villeroy was under Charles IX. , Heinrich III. , Heinrich IV. And Ludwig XIII. State Secretary ( secrétaire d'Etat ) and Ambassador.
As State Secretary, he headed the Foreign Ministry ( Secrétaire d'État aux Affaires étrangères ) from December 30, 1594 to August 9, 1616 , and the Ministry of War ( Secrétaire d'État à la Guerre ) from January 1, 1589 to August 9, 1613 .
Works
Among other things, he left behind the famous Memoires d'Etat depuis 1567 jusqu'en 1604 (1622–1634).
