Niedermohr is a municipality in the Kaiserslautern district in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the community of Ramstein-Miesenbach .

geography

The community is located approx. 30 km northwest of Kaiserslautern between the Palatinate Forest biosphere reserve and the Saar-Hunsrück nature park .

Districts are Niedermohr, Kirchmohr , Schrollbach and Reuschbach . The Eilbacherhof and Lerchenhof residential areas also belong to the community .

history

The community was created on June 7, 1969 through the unification of the previously independent communities of Niedermohr, Reuschbach and Schrollbach.

politics

Niedermohr gained notoriety through a daily topic report dated September 19, 2005 as an “election oracle”. Of all municipalities in Germany, the percentage election result in Niedermohr was closest to the overall German percentage result in three consecutive federal elections . Almost four years later, on September 24, 2009, Niedermohr was mentioned again due to the same topic. In the Ramstein-Miesenbach association mayor elections in 2007, Niedermohr was also closest to the official final result of all the municipalities involved.

Municipal council

The local council in Niedermohr consists of 16 council members who were elected in a personalized proportional representation in the local elections on May 26, 2019 , and the honorary local mayor as chairman.

mayor

Uli Zimmer (CDU) is the local mayor of Niedermohr. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was elected with 81.49% of the vote, making him the successor to Armin Rinder. In 2014, Rinder replaced the local mayor, Karl Wolf (FWG), who had held the office for 20 years.

The public transport in the transport association Rhein-Neckar integrated. The place has a stop on the Landstuhl – Kusel railway line .
