action

The siblings Barbara and Johnny go against their will to the funeral of their only aunt in the country. They arrive late at the cemetery and wonder about the lack of a mourning party. Instead of this, the two are presented with a terrible scenario of aggressive zombies attacking them. Johnny escapes with the car, while Barb fends off a few attacks from the undead until she escapes. On the way, the frightened woman tries in vain to contact her brother, but loses her mobile phone when she is rescued in dire straits by college student Ben, who drives her on a motorcycle to a farm of a family friend, the Coopers.

Barb tries again to get help from the Coopers, but the local host, Henry, believes neither in a resurrection of the dead nor in the local police, which he rather avoids because he illegally cultivates marijuana on a large scale . Little by little the Coopers or the residents of the country house are bitten and also become zombies. At some point the dodgy neighbor of the Coopers, Undertaker Gerald Tovar junior, comes across the barricaded farmhouse. He is allowed in, and the full extent of the zombie plague now becomes clear to those trapped. Your neighbor is responsible for the resurrection of the dead. Instead of burning them in the crematorium , he kept them open in a warehouse with other waste from medical research institutions, thus making the catastrophe possible. After his little confession, he lures the remaining living into his house by pretending to have functioning means of communication. However, he is playing the wrong game and acting as a subordinate to the bloodthirsty zombies.

Barb, Ben and Tovar try to leave the house together, while the wounded and infected Coopers stay behind and hide in the house, doomed to die. The three living go to Tovar's house. On the way, Ben liquidates Barb's undead brother Johnny and their undead mother. Traumatized, Barb finally reaches Tovar's house when the situation worsens again. The high-handed undertaker overpowers Ben, locks him in the trunk and reveals himself to the stunned Barb as a psychopath. Barb manages to set Tovar's farmhouse on fire before the angry undertaker drives her to the cemetery with Ben. There he tries desperately to "save" Barbara by wanting to resurrect her as a zombie. His plan fails and he himself is killed by the zombies.

In the end, Barb and Ben manage to escape both the zombies and the now undead Tovar. Unfortunately, Ben is badly wounded and a transformation into a creature is imminent. The doomed man asks his weeping partner to give him a coup de grace , which she grants him with the last bullet of her revolver. In the last scene of the film, the now defenseless Barb is harassed by hosts of zombies and the film ends abruptly.
