Nikolai Ivanovich Karpov ( Russian: Николай Иванович Карпов ; born November 8, 1929 in Moscow ; † November 7, 2013 there ) was a Soviet - Russian ice hockey player and coach .

Career

During his career, the defender played for ZDSA Moscow , ODO Leningrad , HK Dynamo Moscow and Krylya Sowetow Moscow . In 1952 Karpov was Soviet runner-up with ZDSA Moscow and from 1955 to 1959 he came third in a row with HK Dynamo Moscow and Krylja Sowetow Moscow. With Dynamo Moscow he qualified for the final of the Soviet Cup in 1955 and 1956. In total, he scored 43 goals in 340 games in the Soviet league . So he was appointed to the team of the Soviet national ice hockey team. On November 1, 1954, he was in a game against Germany for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with a bronze medal at the 1960 Winter Olympics . For the national team, he scored three goals in 15 international matches. On February 25, 1960 he played his last international match. Karpov later struck a career as a coach and acted from 1968 to 1970 and 1975 to 1977 as head coach at HK Spartak Moscow . With this he won the Soviet championship title in 1969 and 1976 . From 1978 to 1979 Karpow was behind the gang at HK Lokomotiv Moscow . This was followed by four years in the same position at Torpedo Gorki .
