Nikolaus Bernau

Nikolaus Bernau (* 1964 in Bonn ) is a German art historian , architecture critic , journalist and nonfiction author .

Life

He studied architecture and art studies at the Technical University of Berlin and the Berlin University of the Arts .

Nikolaus Bernau has been working as a freelance editor with a focus on architecture, urban development, museum and cultural policy and history in the editorial team of the Berliner Zeitung since 2000 . From 2003 to 2014 he was a member of the Berlin State Monument Council. In discussions and publications, he is characterized by his constructive and critical examination of cultural heritage and modernity. Teaching assignments for architecture and museum history and a. at the BTU Cottbus , the FHTW in Berlin, the TU Berlin . He publishes scientifically on the history of architecture, town planning and museums in the 19th and 20th centuries and is the second chairman of the Richard-Schöne-Gesellschaft .
