Nikolaus Wurmstich

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nikolaus Wurmstich , also Nikolaus Wormstich, (* in the 17th century; † 1718) was a German master mason and architect of the Baroque era .

Life

Wurmstich lived in Lippstadt . There he married his wife Elisabeth, the daughter of the master mason Jobst Scheck from Störmede , the builder of Eringerfeld Castle and the Lamspringe Abbey Church . Wurmstich employed the future mason and architect Michael Spanner for nine years . Apparently Spanner also succeeded him after Wurmstich's death.

Works

The builder erected several representative objects in the 18th century. In 1705, Bernhard Christof von Schade commissioned the builder Wurmstich to build Antfeld Castle , a baroque three-wing complex on the site of an older building. In the years 1705/1706, the Lippstadt master builder built the new building for the priory of the Clarholz monastery . Nikolaus Wurmstich was also named as a master mason in the building files for the construction of Erpernburg Castle and Erwitte House . It is not known whether Wurmstich designed the objects himself. Wurmstich also built the Protestant church in Borgeln in 1712 and was also involved in the construction of Overhagen Castle in 1716 .
