Nino Oliviero

Nino Oliviero (born February 13, 1918 in Naples , Italy , † March 1, 1980 in Rome ) was an Italian composer .

biography

Nino Oliviero studied music and violin at the “San Pietro a Majella” Conservatory in Naples . He then wrote and composed successfully Neapolitan folk music , including hits such as Nu quarto 'e luna and O ciucciariello . From the mid-1950s and especially in the 1960s, Oliviero was successfully employed as a composer in Italian films. In addition to successful music to The Gray Galley , Key Part in Texas and Nina - Just a matter of time , he was nominated for Best Song at the 1964 Academy Awards, together with Riz Ortolani and Norman Newell for their song More from the documentary Mondo Cane .

During this time he also worked as a music journalist for several daily newspapers and magazines. Oliviero died on March 1, 1980 at the age of 62 after a long illness in Rome.
