Noah Nicholas Beery (born January 17, 1882 in Kansas City , Missouri , † April 1, 1946 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American actor.

Life

Beery was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1884. In 1898 he began to appear in the theater and played on Broadway from 1905 . In 1915 he followed his brother Wallace Beery to Hollywood to appear in films. Beery was mostly cast as the villain and made his breakthrough with the film The Mark of Zorro . In 1930 his career reached its peak. In the following years he mostly played smaller roles. In total, Noah Beery senior played in a total of over 200 films until 1945.

Like his brother Wallace (1885–1949), his son Noah Beery junior (1913–1994) worked as an actor.
