Nolana urubambae is a plant type from the genus Nolana in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Nolana urubambae is a woody, weakly branching, prostrate and 10 to 15 m high plant. Near the base, the bark peels off like paper, the stems are slightly hairy, the older stems are also densely tomentose and hairy towards the tip and colored blue. The root is an 8 to 12 cm long beet root. The slightly fleshy leaves have petioles 2 to 4 mm long , the leaf blade is 5 to 12 mm long and 1.5 to 4.5 mm wide and hairless.

The flowers are on stems up to 4 mm long . The calyx is 6 mm long, slightly hairy, the broadly lanceolate calyx lobes become leathery during flowering. The crown is light blue with dark blue lines, slightly funnel-shaped and hardly longer than the calyx. The five stamens are of unequal length and measure between 6 and 8 mm. Just like the almost spherical scar, they are dull blue. The stylus stands out over the crown.

The fruits consist of three to five partial fruits that are 2 to 3.5 mm in size, black, rough and angular and stand in a row.

Distribution and locations

The species is native to Peru , the type specimen was found in the province of Urubamba at an altitude of 2860 m.

Systematics

Phylogenetic studies showed that the species within the genus is most closely related to Nolana aticoana , Nolana chancoana , Nolana chapiensis , Nolana humifusa , Nolana inflata , Nolana laxa , Nolana lezamae , Nolana plicata , Nolana scaposa , Nolana spathulata, and Nolana weissiana .
