Norbert Blößner

Norbert Blößner (born April 19, 1959 in Straubing ) is a German classical philologist .

Life

After studying Greek , Latin , history and education at the University of Regensburg (1979–1985), Blößner passed his first state examination in 1985 , which was followed by the second state examination in 1987 after a two-year legal clerkship. In 1990, after three years of work on “The singular Iterata of the Iliad. Books 16–20 ”in Regensburg. The following year he received the East Bavarian Culture Prize for his work. As part of the “Plato Project” of the Mainz Academy of Sciences and Literature , he received his habilitation in 1996 with the work “Platon, 'Politeia' 543a1–555b2: Translation, Commentary, Appendices” in Regensburg. For this he received the habilitation award of the University of Regensburg the following year. In addition to these activities, he taught from 1988 to 2005, since 1996 as a private lecturer at the University of Regensburg, but also took part in several international research stays. Since 1998 he has been teaching at the Free University of Berlin , where he became a private lecturer in 2005 and an adjunct professor in 2009 . In 2003 he was visiting professor at the University of Innsbruck and received invitations to other visiting professorships at the University of Heidelberg and Frankfurt . He is married and has two children.

Blößner's research focuses on the early Greek epic as well as early and classical philosophy with a focus on Platonic dialogues , Hellenistic and Roman philosophy.
