Norman Abramson

Norman Abramson (born April 1, 1932 in Boston ) is an American engineer and computer scientist who is known for the development of the ALOHAnet .

He received his bachelor's degree in physics from Harvard University in 1953 , his master's two years later from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1958 .

Until 1955 he worked as a research engineer at Hughes Aircraft . 1955 to 1965 he was at Stanford University and 1966 visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley . From 1968 to 1994 he was Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Hawaii System . He worked on ALOHAnet in the late 1960s and frequency spreading in the 1980s .
