Norman Z. McLeod

Norman Zenos McLeod (born September 20, 1898 in Grayling , Michigan , † January 27, 1964 in Hollywood ) was an American film director .

Life

McLeod studied at the University of the State of Washington and was in World War I two years fighter pilot of Royal Canadian Air Force in France . After the war he worked for the short film comedies Al Christie , whose intertitles it in the 1920s knew years with the typical for the studio expressive stick figures. During his long career for the Christie comedies, McLeod developed his flair for comedy, which later made him one of the pre-eminent comedy directors of the 1930s and 1940s . His most famous films include The Marx Brothers at Sea and Blooming Nonsense with the Marx Brothers , This is a gift with WC Fields , Mr Mitty's double life with Danny Kaye , His angel with the two pistols with Bob Hope, and the first two topper films of Roach Studios .
