The Norwegian Sport University (NIH, Norwegian Norges idrettshøgskole ) is a public university near Sognsvann in the Nordre Aker district in Oslo , Norway . It is the national college for education and sport-related sciences. Bachelor, master and doctoral degrees can be achieved at the university.

history

In 1870 the government established a school of gymnastics, athletics and weapons. The name was changed to State Gymnastics School in 1915. On June 1, 1968, it received its current name and received university status . The first masters student was retired in 1973 and the first doctoral degree was awarded in 1990.
