Noumena is a Finnish melodic death metal band from Ähtäri . The name comes from the philosophical expression Noumenon , which was significantly influenced by Immanuel Kant .

history

Noumena was founded in the spring of 1998. After two demos and several concerts, the band signed a record deal with a Singaporean label. Their debut album was recorded in the Astia Studio that same year , but the band's label went bankrupt before the album was released. In 2001 the Australian label Catharsis Records signed the band and released the already recorded debut album as well as some other songs from 2001 under the name Pride / Fall in 2002.

In the following years it became a little quieter for the band until they finally released the promo CD The Tempter in January 2004 , which brought them a record deal with Spikefarm Records . The second studio album Absence was recorded in the Sundi Coop Studio in October / November of the same year and released on April 13, 2005.

After a few concerts all over Europe , the EP Triumph and Loss , released only through the internet, and the third studio album Anatomy of Life were recorded again in the Sundi Coop Studio .

style

music

The band's musical roots are in Swedish death metal and 1980s heavy metal . Through this combination and various other influences, Noumena plays a very epic and folky variation of Melodic Death Metal . Hanna Leinonen, Tuomas Tuominen and Suvi Uura took part in some of the songs as guest singers.

Texts

The lyrics are mostly about darkness, sadness, loss and similar topics.

Trivia

  • Misanthropolis is the theme song of the Finnish TV series Äijät .
