ORSO are orchestra and choir projects by Wolfgang Roese in Freiburg im Breisgau and Berlin . Today ORSO stands for Orchestra and Choral Society .
Origin and Composition
The ORSO emerged from a school and student orchestra founded by Wolfgang Roese in 1993, which performed with a mixed choir a year later. Originally, ORSO for Ortenauer Rock Symphony Orchestra . The constant change in the ensemble resulted in the renaming of the Orchestra and Choral Society, also abbreviated to ORSO. These include the Rock Symphony project , which features crossover programs between popular opera music and pop music. Since 2004, ORSOphilharmonic has been part of it alongside other sub-projects. In addition to its headquarters in Freiburg , ORSO has had a second headquarters in the capital Berlin since 2009 .

Founder and leader
Wolfgang Roese began to study conductor at the Freiburg State University of Music . He also took conducting courses such as the Budapest State Philharmonic . He completed several years of masterclasses for pianists from the Russian School with Leontina and Vitaly Margulis . His teacher Stephan Hohlweg was also influential . In addition to his role as musical director of the ORSO, he also appears as a pianist and arranger and for his orchestra. His commitment leads to the steady growth of the project.
Works
- since 2013 ORSO has been doing music performance projects with MATRIX , the TV Herdern show team.
- In 2004 (rev. 2006) Wolfgang Roese composed Die Schneekönigin based on the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen for choir, orchestra and speaker.
