Ohio Valley Wrestling , or OVW for short , is the name of an American wrestling promotion based in Louisville , Kentucky . The promoter is Daniel Briley .

history

The history of the promotion began in 1997 when former wrestler Daniel Briley and promoter Jim Cornette lined up for the National Wrestling Alliance Ohio Championship Wrestling (OCW) . Initially, OCW was an associated doctorate with the NWA. In 1998 the promotion was fully incorporated into the NWA and now functioned under the NWA Ohio Championship Wrestling banner .

In 2000, the doctorate left the NWA again and was made the development territory of the then World Wrestling Federation (WWF). In this regard, Ohio Championship Wrestling was renamed Ohio Valley Wrestling .

In 2005 Jim Cornette left his doctorate, but remained a partner. On February 8, 2008, the WWE announced the partnership with Ohio Valley Wrestling. After that, the promotion was independent again and reintegrated into the independent scene.

Since November 2011 OVW has been a development area of Impact Wrestling , a competitor of the WWE.
