Mayor election in Frankfurt am Main 2018

The election of mayor in Frankfurt am Main in 2018 took place on February 25, 2018, six years after the election of mayor in 2012 , in accordance with Section 39 (3) sentence 1 of the Hessian Municipal Code (HGO) . Since no candidate received an absolute majority, a run-off election took place on March 11, 2018 between the two candidates with the highest number of votes, Bernadette Weyland and Peter Feldmann , in accordance with Section 39 (1b) HGO . Feldmann won the runoff election with 70.8% of the vote and began his second term.

Starting position

Since Feldmann missed an absolute majority, these two candidates will run for the runoff election on March 11th. The third largest share of the vote went to Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg (Greens) with 9.3%, followed by Janine Wißler (Left) with 8.8% and the independent candidate Volker Stein with 5.9%. Runoff

Since no candidate had an absolute majority in the first ballot, a runoff election between Peter Feldmann and Bernadette Weyland took place on March 11, 2018. In this runoff election, Feldmann was confirmed in office with a large majority.
