The Obersee is a natural lake in the municipality of Wandlitz that was created in a meltwater channel as a result of the last ice age . On the east bank of the elongated lake is the Lanke district of the Wandlitz community, and the Ützdorf district on the west bank. Here it is connected to the Liepnitzsee via a river , at Lanke it merges into the Hellsee .

description

The lake, an area in the so-called "Frankfurter Eisrandlage", extends in a west-east direction over a length of 740 meters with a width between 120 and 230 meters. The water of the lake is clear, but inputs from falling leaves, fallen and rotting trees and also the numerous bathers in summer make the water quite cloudy. The depth of view is given by divers and anglers at around two meters, from around four meters there is hardly a water inhabitant to be found. The shore zone in the lake is sandy, its land areas are dense with bushes and trees and steeply sloping in many places. State road L29 runs parallel to the southern edge . The Oberseebrücke, over which the A11 federal motorway runs, is located high above the eastern end of the lake .

On the north-west bank there is an official bathing area with a beach café and a bathing jetty. The operator also rents rowing and paddle boats.

The Obersee is owned by the lake fishery Prenden (owner Ch. Bartel; status in 2011). In earlier centuries it was owned by the von Sparr family , including the city of Berlin , who used it to grant fishing rights .

Flora and fauna

Almost all native tree species such as pine , oak , birch , beech or alder can be found in the bank area . Various types of reeds and pond roses have settled in the shallow water . There are contradicting data on the fish population in the Obersee, anglers reported about pike and pikeperch , tench , perch , roach and also some carp and catfish . Divers, on the other hand, say that hardly any fish swim here. But crustaceans , mussels and dragonflies are also native here. Ducks , coots and gray herons feel at home on the water . The riparian zones offer habitats for numerous amphibians .
