Olaf Berner (born August 31, 1949 in Itzehoe ) is a German teacher and former handball player .

Olaf Berner has been a member of THW Kiel since the early 1960s . In the meantime he moved twice to TSV Altenholz , with whom he played in the handball Bundesliga , but returned each time to THW. From 1976 to 1978, the 1.84-meter-tall left winger played for the THW Kiel in the Bundesliga and scored 24 goals, 13 of them by seven meters . In the 1977/78 season he was team captain of the zebras .

Berner is a geography and sports teacher and vice-principal at the Klaus Groth School in Kiel . Since 1986 he has been school sports officer for the city of Kiel. He is married and has two children.

Olaf Berner has been chairman of THW Kiel since July 2012.
