Ole Højlund Pedersen (born February 17, 1943 in Aarhus , Denmark) is a former Danish cyclist.

Athletic career

He started for the Herning Cycling Club .

In 1964 Ole Højlund started in the road race at the Olympic Games in Tokyo and finished 15th in the individual standings and seventh with the team. In the same year he became both Nordic and Danish champions in the team time trial . In 1965 he was two-time Nordic champion - in road racing and in team time trial -, again Danish champion in team time trial and won two stages of the Tour de l'Avenir internationally .

In 1966 Højlund became world champions in team time trial at the Nürburgring with Verner Blaudzun , Fleming Wisborg and Per Norup Hansen . In 1968 he started a second time at the Olympic Games . He was 26th in the road race and fourth with the team.

Three times - 1967 , 1968 and 1969 - Højlund took part in the International Peace Tour . In 1968 he decided the 13th stage from Krakow to Rzeszów for himself.

Honors

On the 50th anniversary of their World Cup victory, Blaudzun, Wisborg, Norup Hansen and Højlund were received in Aarhus City Hall. At this point, the four men had not met in 48 years. Højlund continues to live in his hometown; his World Cup medal was lost when he moved.
