Oligolecty

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oligolecty describes the behavior and nutrition of bees . A type of bee is called oligolectic if the females only collect pollen from one type of plant (or closely related species) and use it to feed their nests with larval food. The opposite is polylecty. Polylectic bees collect pollen from plants of different families. Honey bees are polylectic.
