Olimpia Carlisi (born December 29, 1946 in Campi Bisenzio ) is an Italian actress .

Life

Carlisi, daughter of a Sicilian father, started out as a stage actress and was discovered for the big screen by Roberto Rossellini for his story of the apostles . She then played almost exclusively (with exceptions such as Mike Nichols ' Catch 22 ) for auteur filmmakers and non-commercial demanding filmmakers. In Irene, Irene ( Peter Del Monte , 1975) she was the sensitive and unsteady daughter-in-law whom the protagonist inherits; in Fellini's Casanova, the magician Isabella, who heals the womanizer, but refuses to accept him. She acted for Jean-Marie Straub and Bernardo Bertolucci , for Roberto Benigni , Ferzan Öztepek and Giuseppe Gaudino as well as in several French productions. Several times she realized projects with the film critic Adriano Aprà , starting in 1970 with his RAI -produced Olimpia agli amici , which tells a documentary of a drama from the time of the Second World War, but relies entirely on the physical and intellectual fascination of the leading actress.

In 1980, Carlisi was the co -presenter of the 1980 Sanremo Festival . In 2003 she retired from the screen for many years until she returned there in Asia Argentos Misunderstood .
