Olivia Molina (born January 3, 1946 in Copenhagen ) is a German- Mexican tango and folklore singer who was primarily known as a pop singer in German-speaking countries until the 1970s and was also partly active as an actor.

Life

Her mother was a German dancer from Flensburg. Her father was a musician and orchestra leader who was born in San Cristóbal de las Casas in the Mexican state of Chiapas .

Olivia Molina's career began at the age of 14 in Acapulco , Mexico. As a student she had her first successes with hits by Paul Anka , Ricky Nelson and Brenda Lee . Molina performed in clubs and hotels and received her first record deal as a teenager with the record company Peerless in Mexico City . In 1965, according to the biography of her website, she had a hit in Mexico with Juego de Palabras .

In 1966 she moved to Germany, took acting lessons and from around 1970 made recordings in German. Her first major success was the recording of the Beatles hit Let It Be in German under the title Aber wie . As a result, she became known in German-speaking countries and had some minor successes as a result.

In 1972 she took part in the German preliminary decision for the Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson . Your contribution The largest arena in the world came in tenth out of twelve participants. In 2011 she celebrated her 50th anniversary on stage as part of her regular tour "Olivia Molina - Christmas Gala".
