Olly Murs
Oliver Stanley "Olly" Murs (* 14. May 1984 in Witham , Essex , England ) is a British pop - singer . In his home country, he became known in 2009 for the sixth season of the talent show The X Factor , in which he finished second behind Joe McElderry .
Life
In addition to his twin brother and sister, who is two years older than him, Murs is one of three children of Vicky-Lynn and Peter Murs. He grew up in Witham and attended Notley High School, where he was a striker on the school's soccer team. He later played semi-professionally for Witham Town . After graduating from school, Murs worked in a call center.
music
In 2009 he applied for the sixth season of the talent show The X Factor , which was broadcast from August to December 2009 on the evening program of the British television station ITV . Murs reached the final of the competition, but lost to 18-year-old Joe McElderry .
He then went on tour with the show The X Factor Live . In February 2010 he was signed by the record companies Epic Records and Syco Music . His debut single Please Don't Let Me Go was released in late August 2010 and Olly Murs' debut album in early December.
In German-speaking countries, Olly Murs was only marketed with his second album and in particular his single Heart Skips a Beat , which rose to number 1 in the German single charts on April 6, 2012.
On November 26, 2012, his third studio album Right Place Right Time was released in the UK. On November 18th the title Troublemaker (feat. Flo Rida ) was released as a download single. In the United States, Troublemaker was released on January 8, 2013. On January 25, 2013, Troublemaker was also released on CD in Germany and reached number two in the single charts . In Great Britain it even made it to number 1 . The album was released in the US as Murs' first album on April 16, 2013. It reached number 19 on the US album charts.
The second single from the album was Army of Two . This could reach number 12 in the UK charts. In Germany she was only 96th for a week. The third single Dear Darlin 'was able to do much better again. It was released on May 26, 2013 in Great Britain and reached number 5. In Germany, it was released on August 16 and rose to number 2. In Austria, Olly Murs reached number 1 in the charts with the single for the first time.
The fourth single Right Place Right Time was released on August 25, 2013 in Great Britain. It was also Dance with Me Tonight released in a new version as a single in the US.
In November 2013 a new version of the album Right Place Right Time was released . The next single, Hand on Heart, was released on November 24th. The fourth studio album Never Been Better was released in November 2014 .
In July 2016 his first single You Don't Know Love was released from his fifth album 24Hrs, which was released on November 11, 2016. The second single Grow Up , which was also released before the album was released, was released in October 2016.

Tours
Murs has already toured the UK three times. He also toured America in the opening act for One Direction and accompanied Robbie Williams on his European tour in 2013. In October 2013 he went on a solo tour in Germany for the first time. In May 2015 he came to Germany for three concerts on his Never Been Better Tour.
Television career
In 2015, Olly Murs hosted the British program The X Factor together with Caroline Flack . In 2018 and 2019, Olly Murs appeared as one of the four coaches on The Voice UK program and in 2019 won the eighth season of the British show with Molly Hocking .
