The men's downhill in alpine skiing at the 1952 Winter Olympics was held on February 16 in the ski area on Norefjell .

Olympic champion Zeno Colò from Italy was not ahead of any of the intermediate times measured by Norwegian journalists in four places. The bronze medalist from Austria Christian Pravda jumped too much in his run, which kept him slow. He landed behind his compatriot Othmar Schneider .

Egon Schöpf fell badly, broke through the protective wall made of wood and straw, was thrown into the forest and remained unconscious.
