Omar Ghalawandschi

Omar Ibrahim Ghalawandschi ( Arabic عمر إبراهيم غلاونجي, DMG ʿUmar Ibrāhīm Ġalāwanǧī ; * 1954 in Tartous ) is Deputy Prime Minister for Service Affairs in Syria and was Syrian Prime Minister on a temporary basis in August 2012 .

Life

Ghalawandschi is a trained civil engineer. The Sunni Muslim has been Minister of Local Administration since 2011, previously serving as Minister of Housing and Construction since September 18, 2008. After Prime Minister Riyad Farid Hijab defected to the opposition on August 6, 2012, he was tasked with leading the interim government. On August 9, Wael Nader al-Halki was appointed Prime Minister.

Ghalawandschi is the father of three daughters and one son.
