Order decoration
The order decoration consists of an eight-pointed star. The star tips are enameled red and have a gold border. In the corners there are short golden rays bursting out, at the tips of which a golden lotus wreath defines the outer boundary. At the top of the star is the golden Siamese royal crown, which is partially surrounded by blue, red and white enamel . The center of the star has a large round medallion . On the front is the bust of the king and the all-encompassing blue enamelled, gold-rimmed hoop bears the golden motto of the order “We will let our family prosper” in the local language ( เรา จะ บำรุง ตระกูล วงศ์ ให้ เจริญ ). The back contains a round central field on which the three-headed elephant Erawan is made of white enamel. The ring is enamelled red and has a white wreath. In a second inner, blue circlet, there is the date of the foundation in gold inscription.
Differences in the classes are made by size and material (gold or silver).
Ribbon and way of wearing
The ribbon is solid pink. It symbolizes the " birthday color " of King Chulalongkorn, who was born on a Tuesday. The first class wears the medal as a sash , the second as a neck medal and the third class on a buckle on the left chest. The order decoration includes an eight-pointed silver order star, which is worn on the left side of the chest. The rays of the 1st class are brilliant and the "big one" was also on. The class difference can also be seen here in the middle shield, on which the portrait of the king is replaced by his initial - the three-fold intertwined letter " จ ".
Order chain
The bearers of the Grand Cross wear a gold medal chain during celebrations. This consists of fifty-one members. The royal name is alternately lined up with lotus leaves. Two golden dragons hold the center piece - the three-headed elephant surrounded by the two seven-row parasols. The golden royal crown is attached to the elephant's back.
Salutation
Married women who are awarded the Grand Cross or Grand Commander of the Order of Chula Chom Klao receive the title Than Phu Ying ( ท่านผู้หญิง ); in the other classes of the order the title Khun Ying ( คุณหญิง ), which is placed before the first name. In the case of distant members of the royal family who already have the title Mom Rajawongse or Mom Luang by their birth , this is replaced by the title Than Phu Ying , but not by the lesser title Khun Ying . Unmarried women bearers of the order receive the title Khun ( คุณ ). There are no special titles for male carriers.
