The Orlando Miracle was an American basketball franchise of the Women's National Basketball Association based in Orlando , Florida .
history
The Miracle were founded in 1998 and started playing at the beginning of the 1999 season . The team colors were blue, white and gray. The team started well and missed the playoffs by just one win in their first season. In the rest of the time in Orlando, the team only qualified once for the playoffs and won a WNBA championship.
After the 2002 season , the WNBA gave its ownership rights to all WNBA franchises, while the league initially offered the rights to the franchises to all local NBA teams. After the owners of the Orlando Magic were not ready to take over the Orlando Miracle, the franchise was released for sale by the WNBA on October 21, 2002. On January 28, it was announced that the franchise would be relocated to Connecticut and the team name would be changed to Sun.
The Miracle played their home games at the TD Waterhouse Center .
