Osama Abdulrzag Hawsawi ( Arabic أسامة عبد الرزاق هوساوي, DMG Usāma ʿAbd ar-Razzāq Hawsāwī ; * March 31, 1984 in Mecca ) is a former Saudi Arabian soccer player; he was used as a defender .

Career

club

Beginnings in Saudi Arabia

In his youth he played with the U-23 of al-Wahda in Mecca. There he made his first appearances as a professional from July 2006 and quickly became an absolute regular player. By July 2008 he had a total of 59 missions. Then he moved to al-Hilal , where he was also a regular player and captain under the then manager Eric Gerets and won five titles in 79 missions until the summer of 2012. These included the league championship twice (2009/10, 2010/11) and the Saudi Crown Prince Cup three times (2008/09, 2009/10, 2010/11). He wasn't to win that many titles with any other club.

Time at RSC Anderlecht

In July 2012 he moved to Europe for the RSC Anderlecht for the first time . His contract was dated for a term of two years. He was also the only Saudi Arabian national player at that time to play for a club in Europe. There he came only to a single use in the league (a 1: 1 against the Oud-Heverlee Löwen ), as well as a use in the Belgian Football Cup (2-0 win against Royal Francs Borains ). So in both cases he was at least the first player of his nationality to play for Anderlecht at both events. Because the RSC Anderlecht also became champions in the league in the same season, they can still call themselves Belgian champions.

Return to Saudi Arabia

At the end of November 2012 he left Anderlecht and returned to Saudi Arabia, this time joining the Al-Ahli club . The transfer fee was 1.5 million euros. With these he won the Saudi Crown Prince Cup again in the 2014/15 season . As well as the King Cup and the league championship title in the 2015/16 season .

In July 2016, he then moved back to al-Hilal for $ 5.5 million. With these he became league champions in the 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons . In addition, he won the cup in the 2016/17 season.

In the summer of 2018, after his contract with al-Hilal expired, he went back to his youth club al-Wahda, for which he did not demand any payment. He should play there until the end of the year. On December 26th, he announced on his Twitter profile that he would end his career.

National team

The first time in the squad he was in a qualifier for the 2007 Asian Cup against Japan , but there he was not used. He was able to play for the team for the first time at the Asian Cup himself. Here was his first appearance in the preliminary round, in the 1-1 draw against South Korea . He was then used at least once in each round and in the end achieved second place with his team.

In a friendly against Spain he scored a goal from a corner, which should lead to the interim 1-0 for his team, this was also only his second goal in the national team's jersey; the game ended 3-2 for Spain.

At the 2011 Asian Cup , he and his team did not get beyond the preliminary round, and every single game was lost. The same should happen at the 2015 Asian Cup . A 4: 1 win against North Korea due to the two other defeats in the group was not enough to progress.

His last tournament would then be the 2018 World Cup . Here he led his team onto the field for the first time as captain. But here, too, two defeats and a win against Egypt were not enough to progress. After this tournament he ended his career.
