Otto Warburg Medal
The Otto Warburg Medal is one since 1963 to outstanding scientists in the field of biochemistry award science prize . It is named after the German biochemist and physiologist Otto Warburg , who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1931 . The Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM), the German professional association in the field of biochemistry, is responsible for the award .
The Otto Warburg Medal in the form of a bronze medal, which is currently endowed with prize money of 25,000 euros provided by Elsevier / BBA, is the GBM's highest scientific award and one of the most important honors in the field of biochemistry in Germany . The award takes place annually as part of the GBM autumn conference or as part of the Mosbach Colloquium on the basis of nominations by ordinary members of the society.
