Otto Bäurle

Otto Bäurle (born February 3, 1887 in Munich ; † April 26, 1951 , ibid) was a German athlete .

Born in the Bavarian capital, Otto Bäurle graduated from the Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich in 1906 . He began his track and field career at TSV 1860 Munich . Bäurle specialized in the triple jump , but was also active as an all-rounder. In a competition in Strasbourg on July 31, 1911, he was the first German athlete to jump over the 14-meter mark (width: 14.07 m). He was able to improve this distance to 14.17 m just 10 months later.

In 1912 Otto Bäurle took part in the Stockholm Summer Olympics. He competed in both the triple jump and the pentathlon. In the triple jump he reached 14th place (out of 20 starters) with 13.52 m. In the pentathlon he was thirteenth after three exercises (200 m, javelin and long jump) and thus missed the qualification for the further course of the competition.

After his active career, Otto Bäurle devoted himself to athletics training. Under the author name Dr. Otto Bäurle he published various training books.
