Outstanding Astronomical Heritage

Outstanding Astronomical Heritage (OAH) (German: Outstanding Astronomical Heritage) is the name of a list of the International Astronomical Union (IAU). This is a list of astronomical sites that the IAU has declared as outstanding, but which do not meet the criteria for a World Heritage Site .

The list includes observatories, for example, which played a crucial role in the history of astronomy from the European Renaissance to the mid-20th century. It is not necessarily a prerequisite that the building is still intact or that key instruments are still on display. The list was presented for the first time at the IAU General Assembly in Vienna in 2018.
