Palais Hoym
The Palais Hoym (also Palais Riesch or Harmoniegebäude ) was an early classical palace in Dresden . It was located at Innere Pirnaischen Gasse 6, which later became Landhausstrasse 11.
history
The property was mentioned as early as the 14th century. Until 1691 it was in bourgeois possession, then in aristocratic possession. From 1739 to 1742 the head stable master Johann Adolph von Brühl , the brother of Count Heinrich von Brühl , had the palace built by Johann Christoph Knöffel . The palace had three floors and was structured with 13 axes, with a garden to the south.
In 1752 the chamberlain Julius Gebhard von Hoym acquired the palace, which was named after him. Hoym's uncle Adolph Magnus von Hoym was the temporary husband of the later Countess Cosel . During the Seven Years' War , the Prussian troops destroyed the palace in the bombing of Dresden. In 1766, Hoym had it rebuilt by Friedrich August Krubsacius as a four-wing complex into one of the largest palaces in Dresden.
After numerous changes of ownership, August Friedrich von Schönberg sold the palace in 1830 for 40,000 thalers to the Dresden society Harmonie . He used the palace as a harmony building . To do this, he had the palace rebuilt. So Otto von Wolframsdorf created a larger hall instead of the previous one. This hall was one of the largest concert and theater halls in Dresden. In 1843 it was restored according to plans by Gottfried Semper and changed in 1850. Otto Gussmann later decorated the hall with ceiling paintings. During the air raids on Dresden in February 1945, the palace was destroyed and then removed.
Fountain
The fountain from the courtyard of the palace by Johann Gottfried Knöffler , created between 1765 and 1766, was salvaged and restored by Christian Hempel . In 1983 it was attached to the extension of the police headquarters on Landhausstrasse. It shows children playing with a dolphin lying on a rock. The well has been in storage since the demolition of the new building.
reconstruction
The property of the palace is in Quartier III of Neumarkt , which has been rebuilt since 2006 . The reconstruction by the Berlin CG Group should be completed in 2021.
