Palau Blaugrana
The Palau Blaugrana ( German blue-dark red palace ) is a multi-purpose hall in the Spanish city of Barcelona , Catalonia . The hall, inaugurated in October 1971, is owned by FC Barcelona .
history
The arena serves as a venue for the various ball sports teams in basketball , handball , roller hockey and futsal of FC Barcelona. At first it offered space for 5,696 spectators. After expansion work in 1994 and 2007, the hall now has a seating capacity of 7,585.
The Palau Blaugrana is located between the Mini Estadi , home of the youth soccer team, and the world-famous Camp Nou , where the first team of the soccer department plays its home games.
In addition to the competitions in roller hockey , judo and taekwondo at the 1992 Summer Olympics , the arena u. a. Venue of the men's tennis masters 1972, the Taekwondo European championships 1976, the fencing world championships 1985 and the judo world championships 1991.
future
FC Barcelona is planning to build a new Palau Blaugrana for 100 million euros . The club announced this at a press conference on September 27, 2012. According to the plan, the successor should be completed by 2020, if possible earlier. A new hall is important for the FC Barcelona basketball team to continue to receive the license for the EuroLeague . One condition of the license may be. a. a venue with at least 10,000 seats.
